This will be a brief explanation of how I had the honor of spending 3 weeks in September of 2007 and again in September 2008 in Dalby Australia with my good friend Ross Milne his wife Denise and their son Geordie.

Ross and Geordie are avid RC modelers and this is how we met.
The following photos are of the Dalby Model Aero Club. It is one of the best flying sites that I have ever had the opportunity to fly at.

First you should know that there are only 25 to 30 members in the entire club. This shows what can be accomplished if a club is well organized and dedicated.  It has taken Ross, Geordie and the club members 18 months of hard work and dedication to build
the New Dalby Model Aero Club flying site from the raw ground to what you will see in theses photos.

To start with the land had to be cleared and leveled then the club house had to be rebuilt due to a fire that destroyed it years earlier. Some of the steel work such as the East West sun shelter was moved from their old model field and all of the steel work was done in Ross's factory where he builds farm equipment. Ross, Geordie and the members did all of the concrete work.
The concrete for the club house was paid for by the club and the concrete for the sun shelters was truck tails donated by Wagner's Concrete in Dalby. The windows and doors in the club house were donated by various construction companies.
The toilets and showers are a prefab unit that Ross had at his factory. It was bigger than what he needed so he traded it to the club for the smaller one that they had at the old field. The toilets and showers have hot and cold water and there are 3 toilets, 2 showers and 3 sinks for the ladies and 2 toilets, 2 showers and 2 sinks for the men. In the club house there is a kitchen with a sink and hot and cold water, two refrigerators and a gas stove and oven. I could go on and on about how outstanding the field is and what an outstand job Ross, Geordie and the club members have done to build it, but I will let the photos tell the rest of the story.

The new club flying site was financed by donations from club members and non club members alike and a $13000.00 grant from the Dalby Council. The Council feels that the $13000.00 grant will be more than repaid in business to the town of Dalby. Last weekend there were a couple of guys from out of town camping and flying and they drove into the town of Dalby to eat.
This weekend there will be a free flight meet that will bring more business to the town of Dalby.
Please take some time and look at the photos.
