On Thursday May 7 2009 it was standing room only when 150 people wearing red shirts attended the Manatee County Commissioners Meeting to oppose the reasoning of 25 acres north of the Ridgewood Meadows mobile home park on Victory Road in Ellenton Florida. The owner of the 25 acres wanted to have the land rezoned from a single-family manufactured home designation to a planned development residential.

This would have allowed a 216 unit three-story apartment complex to be built on the 25 acres next to the Ridgewood Meadows mobile park.

After the 150 people wearing there red shirts packed into the County Commissioners chambers and expressed there concerns about the rezoning,

The Commissioners voted 6 to 1 to denied the request to rezone the property.

“Everything was great,” said Todd Pressman the spokesman for the land owner.

"until the commissioners saw all the red shirts".

This just goes to show that numbers do count. It worked for them and it can work for us if we can just get enough RC modelers to attend a Manatee county Commissioners meeting we will get a new flying site.
